City of Yuma Trash Truck

City of Yuma Trash Service Guidelines

Residents are responsible for their own trash can. Please tie them up or pull them inside in case of high winds or stormy weather. It is recommended that garbage be placed in bags to help prevent spills.

Cans are numbered and logged at City Hall to prevent cans being swapped or stolen.

Please call City Hall for repairs on trashcans, i.e., a broken lid or wheel.

No items bigger than 3 feet long are to be placed in cans. Please cut branches, PVC pipes, sticks, and large boxes into 3’ sections. This helps protect both the truck and the equipment at the landfill from damage.

Metal, i.e., steel and iron, tires, appliances, and batteries are not to be placed in trash containers. Yuma County Landfill does accept these items, but they must be sorted out of regular trash service. Placing these items into the trashcan can result in extra charges on the resident’s trash bill.

Do not place any liquids in trash containers. Yuma County Landfill does not accept oil, used oil, petroleum, hazardous materials, or wet paint. They recommend drying paint on carpet prior to throwing it out. Pesticide and herbicide containers must be triple rinsed.

Mattresses, box springs, and electronics such as computers or microwaves in the trash containers will also result in extra charges on the resident’s trash bill.

Extra dumps are available by calling City Hall, for an extra charge.

City of Yuma Recycling Center Guidelines

There are specific bins labeled for the different items to be recycled. Keeping the items sorted allows the City to maintain a lower cost for this service as specific items incur higher charges.

Please pay attention to the signs. Items must be placed inside the bins upon dropping off. Do not place items on the floor.

Refrigerators, freezers, vacuums, light fixtures, coffee makers, satellite dishes, space heaters, and old telephones are not accepted.
