Journeyman Lineman
 

The City of Yuma, Colorado, Electric Department has an immediate opening for a Journeyman Lineman. Compensation starts at $38.12 hourly. The City of Yuma (population 3,524) is located about 150 miles northeast of the Denver metro area.  Under the direction of the Electric Superintendent, the Journeyman Lineman is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and construction of a  7200/12470 distribution system; including overhead and underground.  The successful candidate will have completed an accredited Journeyman Lineman apprenticeship program, obtained a Journeyman’s Licence, and have at least three years of increasingly responsible experience in an electric utility.  Candidates must also possess or be able to obtain Class A CDL license and be insurable under the City’s insurance policy.  The position will be required to take on-call rotation.  Pre-employment requirements will include a written skills test, criminal background check, and drug and alcohol  screening.  A City employment application is required.  The City of Yuma is an Equal Opportunity Employer.  For more information or to receive an application, contact Scott Moore, City Manager, or John Prettyman, Electrical Superintendent  at 970-848-3878 x 2112, email at j.prettyman@yumacolo.org, or by U.S. mail at City of Yuma, PO Box 265, 320 South Main Street, Yuma CO 80759.  The position will remain open until filled.

The City of Yuma Police Department is accepting applications for Police Officer.  Applications must be Colorado Post Certified, at least 21 YOA, HS diploma or equivalent, clean driving record/criminal history.  Bilingual is a plus.  Starting salary $45,000, benefit package/FPPA retirement.  Hiring process includes, but not limited to, written, oral and psychological testing, CVSA, medical exam with drug screening. Applicant must be willing to work a flexible/rotating schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Selected candidate will be required to enforce state law and city municipal code.

Apprentice Lineman

The City of Yuma, Colorado Electric Department has an immediate opening for an Apprentice Lineman.  Compensation starts at $30.50 per hour with a competitive benefits package.  The City of Yuma (population 3,524) is located about 150 miles northeast of the Denver metro area. Code Enforcement / Animal Control Officer

The City of Yuma Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Code Enforcement / Animal Control Officer.  Duties will include but limited to:

 

  • Enforce the laws and ordinances of the City of Yuma. 
  • Investigate citizen complaints 
  • Prepare and submit code enforcement reports. 
  • Report violations and hazardous conditions. Take corrective action when necessary 
  • Testify in court 
  • Respond to complaints of reported code violations relating to signage, nuisances, garbage/rubbish dumping, or other code related matters. 
  • Conduct field investigations of potential violations, gathers evidence, questions or interviews complainants, witnesses, and suspects, compares facts to code requirements and makes findings. 
  • Issue warnings, correction notices, and/or citations as necessary to appropriately address issues with safety, sanitation, health or other code or law violations. 
  • Enforce the laws and ordinances of the City of Yuma, related to animals. 
  • Receives and investigates citizen complaints related to reported code violations regarding to dogs. 
  • Capture, contain and secure non-vicious dogs and dogs at large and transports to shelter or clinic as appropriate.
  • Implement quarantine procedures as needed and in cooperation with the Health Department for rabies control.
  • Related to code violations involving animals, conduct field investigations of potential violations, gather evidence.
  • Issues warnings, correction notices, and/or citations as necessary to appropriately address issues with violations of Code provisions related to animals.
  • Issue summonses to animal owners in violation of animal control ordinances.
  • Prepares reports and maintains appropriate records.
  • Collects fees and other charges, related to enforcement, as authorized. 
  • Maintains animal control equipment, vehicle and supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
